8010 Ibrahim Al Khalil Diar Alkhalidiya Hotel
Open in Google MapsI am very disappointed with my stay at Diar Al Khalidiya, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. From the first day, the WiFi in my room did not work. I reported this issue 6–7 times, but nothing was ever done to fix it. As a result, I had to spend hours in the reception area just to access the internet, alongside other guests who were facing the same problem. I barely slept during my stay due to the constant stress and inconvenience. This situation became even worse when my Qatar Airways flight was cancelled due to the conflict in the Middle East. I urgently needed WiFi to contact my family and rebook my flight, but instead I was left struggling for hours with no real support from the hotel. I spent over 16 hours in total in reception trying to resolve my situation. Communication was very poor. Most reception staff did not speak English, which made things extremely difficult. Only one staff member, Ali, made an effort to help using Google Translate. There was also a lack of consistency in what I was being told one receptionist said the WiFi issue affected the whole hotel, while the manager claimed I was the only one complaining. Housekeeping was also disappointing. I was told my room would be cleaned, but when I returned from the mosque the next morning, it had not been touched. Later, the duty manager, Mohammed, told me rooms would not be cleaned unless I was present, which had never been explained to me before. The duty manager Mohammed also said he would speak to the sales team regarding my situation after I explained my cancelled flight and the stress I was under, but no real help was provided. I was eventually offered another room, but by that point I was exhausted, sleep-deprived, and trying urgently to leave Saudi Arabia and return to London. Due to the ongoing WiFi issues, lack of sleep, and the stress of my cancelled flight, I had no choice but to check out early (Monday instead of Wednesday). Despite everything, the hotel refused to refund me for the unused nights and has not responded to Expedia regarding my case. This experience left me feeling unsupported and extremely stressed, especially in Makkah during Ramadan atime when compassion and hospitality should be at their highest. I expected much better treatment and care.
