A little far from attractions in central Tokyo, but honestly a hidden gem if you want a true cultural experience. The area was calm and quiet every night, there was a convenience store right across the street, and there were many local restaurants a short walk away by the station. You won’t find anything touristy in the area; it’s the real local experience, which we absolutely loved. Our host was also the kindest old man you will ever meet. He took care of our every need, welcoming us back every night, seeing us off every morning, and even giving us umbrellas on a day when it rained. The room was completely traditional, down to a tea set, tatami flooring, wooden sliding windows, and a traditional closet where futons were stored. Although getting to attractions in central Tokyo took 25-45 minutes by subway, we really appreciated this experience, as most tourists never get to see this side of Tokyo.
