I sincerely hope hotel management reads this review and takes immediate action. This was my second time staying at this hotel. My first experience—booked through Booking.com where my German nationality was visible—was absolutely flawless, which is the only reason I decided to return. This time, I booked a Junior Suite directly through the hotel’s WhatsApp number and was explicitly assured by the agent that our suite would have a view, pending assignment upon arrival. I arrived with my wife and my mother. Because my mother spoke to the staff in Egyptian Arabic, the receptionist immediately assigned us the absolute worst room I have ever stepped foot in anywhere in the world (see attached images—completely unacceptable for €200 for 2 nights). We returned to the reception to request the room with a view we were promised. We were forced to communicate in Egyptian Arabic because the receptionist spoke neither English nor German—a shocking and unacceptable language barrier for a hotel operating in the holy city of Mecca. The receptionist blatantly lied to us, claiming that no suites in the hotel had views and that the WhatsApp agent had simply made a mistake. He even aggressively demanded screenshots of my chat so he could "punish" the employee. I informed him that internal staff discipline was not my concern; I either wanted the room I paid for, or we would leave. At this point, the receptionist became combative and indirectly threatened me, suggesting that my "tone" would not help the situation. I immediately put a stop to his hostility. I informed him that I was only speaking his language because of his own inability to communicate, that I am a German citizen, and that if he continued attempting to scam and intimidate us, I would immediately involve the police and the German Embassy. I made it clear I would not accept the discriminatory, subpar treatment he clearly reserves for guests with Egyptian roots. Unsurprisingly, his demeanor changed instantly. He offered profound apologies to my mother, my wife, and myself, and "magically" found the exact suite with a view we had originally been promised. It is an absolute disgrace to be lied to, intimidated, and scammed by your own brothers in holy Mecca, simply because of a dialect and perceived nationality. Management needs to address this toxic, discriminatory behavior and the severe lack of professionalism at the front desk immediately.
