Wellington Hotel by Blue Orchid

Apartment suite was down several narrow corridors and stairs in the basement with view of the pavement. Blinds had to be down to stop people seeing in. It was next to the noisy kitchen which woke me from 6am each morning. There was a portable aircon unit sat on the desk that was so loud we had to turn it off to sleep. Desk could not be used. This should not be a guest room, period. Staff service was poor. The bar was run chaotically and slowly. Ordering at the bar felt like I’d entered an invisibility contest, rarely would I be acknowledged and several times we had to go back to check things we ordered were coming as they were so slow. Staff seem to flit around the bar without serving or acknowledging guests. Tables were cleared haphazardly. Some guests also treated the bar as a personal living room with one taking a nap in the sofa as if it were his bed. I was appalled to hear my mother in law was called at 10pm to ask if she had paid for dinner which I had paid for and we had eaten in the uncomfortably low tables of the bar when the food finally arrived in dribs and drabs. Food itself was good. Breakfast food and service were decent. I should mention we booked here as it was close to our wedding venue. To say I am unimpressed with what we got for what we paid is an understatement.
