Vegas Hotel

I recently stayed at the Vegas Hotel in London and, while the location and basic room setup met expectations, the overall experience was unfortunately let down by some significant comfort issues. The biggest problem was the overpowering smell throughout the room — the only way I can describe it is as a strong, stale “sweaty onions” odour. It was so intense that every item of clothing I brought (worn or clean) ended up smelling of it and needed a full wash once I got home. The hotel doesn’t have air conditioning, which is clearly stated on their website, so I can’t fault them for that. However, the single small fan provided was plugged in opposite the beds in our twin room, meaning only one person really benefited from any airflow during the night. With the hot weather we had, this made sleeping quite uncomfortable. On arrival, we witnessed another guest handing his keycard back over the counter and leaving because he was disappointed about the lack of aircon. The reception manager handled it calmly and explained the situation, which was fair enough. On the positive side, the room itself was pretty much as described — a small but functional private shower and toilet, and two small single beds. The location is genuinely great, and the exterior of the hotel and surrounding area looked clean and tidy. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the Vegas Hotel unless you’re on a very tight budget and can tolerate strong odours and basic ventilation. The smell issue really needs addressing, as it completely overshadowed what could have been an acceptable stay in a convenient spot.
