The Z Hotel Covent Garden

I've stayed at Z Hotels before, so knew what I was getting into with regard to the size and compactness. My review is based on my particular one-night experience in this hotel. We arrived to a construction zone, and were told that due to the construction, the AC wasn't working quite as well usual. But we were assured that it was working, and they had put a fan in the room to help. I should have backed out then and there. As it turns out, the AC was making no difference in the room, and the provided fan blew almost no air. We would have moved to a different room, but we were a family of 4 in a family room, and there weren't others available. The staff did find a better fan, but we nevertheless spent the night in an 80F/27C+ degree room with no windows. It was hotter than the hallways, which were hotter than the outside. To make matters worse, the upper bunk in the family room is walled off with glass to prevent falls. So no air circulated up top. The whole family was miserable. Z Hotel should have gotten way ahead of this, and moved folks to neighboring locations (the Strand location is 3 blocks away), or been more transparent and offered a discount. Instead, we paid full price for an awful experience.
