Open in Google MapsThe staff and breakfast were wonderful but I cannot rate the hotel more than 2 stars due to the poor state of our room and the elevator being out of order. I do not recommend staying on the 2nd floor in the rooms numbered in the 400s. The lobbies and first floor piano area are very classy and give a feel of luxury, however... Our room was 418. To get to our room, we had to climb 3 flights of stairs and 2 of those sets were labeled as the fire escape stairs. In our room, the walls were dented and stained, the carpet had stains, the bed had hairs on it. In the bathroom, there was a nice mosaic above the toilet. There was a shower curtain but no liner so the bathroom floors were dangerously wet. I'm not sure if all UK shower/tub combos have a tub that is so tall but it was a dangerous combo with the extremely slippery tub, I did get a huge bruise from banging my leg against the edge getting in the first time even holding onto the rails. Our windows had the outer curtains but were missing the sheer liners on the inner track so the windows were not fully covered. It was no 4 star room. It felt dirty. Our room also backed up to the back of the Icelandic market so we were greeted by the beeping of delivery trucks each morning. The a/c did work well and I did sleep well but I do believe that was just due to exhaustion. Tooloo at the front desk was very helpful and kind. We ordered room service once for dessert and it was a nice experience. We really enjoyed the breakfast service and the variety of offerings. We stayed here with a group booking through EF tours so I did not complain to the staff or switch hotels due to that circumstance. I do recommend the bakery across the street!
