We were at the Kennington Oval for the Women’s World Cup semi-final, England v South Africa, sat up in the Laker Balcony with the sun out and the ground looking absolutely glorious. The view was superb, the atmosphere had that proper big-match buzz, and there’s just something special about watching international cricket at The Oval. Sun on the seats, crowd in full voice, bat on ball, and one of the great old grounds showing exactly why it’s so loved. Everything felt well organised, the facilities were excellent, and the whole day had that classic English cricket feel — relaxed, lively, and full of character. Outstanding venue. Outstanding occasion. One of those days that reminds you why cricket in the sunshine is hard to beat.
