Opulence Boutique Hotel

In a good ish spot but absolutely grim, from the filthy stair carpets that assault your eyes as you arrive and ascend, to the balls of fluff in the room corners, to the broken bathroom fittings, half a loo roll, taps that spray water in all directions, the dusty coffee cups, the window that would only stay open if we wedged the bin in it (4th floor, no aircon, heatwave), the broken and ancient fridge, the bed that had a bit sawn off the headrest so it would fit, the awful beds with no mattress topper or pillowcase protector, one pillow each. There was no way I was getting in that bed so asked for extra towels so I could sleep on top of it, which to his credit, the chap on reception brought up for us along with some bottled water. The landing doors were propped open with a bit of 4”x 2” across the floor. This place was probably opulent in 2005 but doesn’t look like it’s been touched since. Nothing like the impression the pics give - beware!
