What guests say

Look, hotels don't have to be perfect, but they do have to be honest. We paid over £400 for two nights and left feeling genuinely disappointed and duped. At that price, alongside the marketing images online, we expected a hotel that reflected the price, bright with a sophisticated, albeit historical charm. Instead, we found a property that feels tired, poorly maintained, and seems to only pull from its location. The room itself (Executive Double) is an acceptable size, but the bed is one of the smallest doubles we've encountered in a hotel at this price point, with only one bedside table, making the room feel poorly thought-through.This is despite our room being advertised as "executive", which feels misleading. Much of the furniture is visibly worn, with chipped wood, obvious signs of age, and drawers that are falling off their brackets when opening them. Our room overlooks the glass roof of the basement dining room and a service alley, which only adds to the feeling that this isn't the standard that we'd paid for. The lift is out of service, we had to call reception simply to access the Wi-Fi (as this is what is advertised on the TV info), and the hotel as a whole feels dated and lacking the level of care you'd expect for the rates being charged. (Think an unloved living room). None of these issues alone would have ruined our stay. Together, however, they leave us questioning how this can hotel justify its pricing and marketing. We don't expect perfection, but we do expect value for money, and we simply didn't receive it. We leave feeling that we paid a relatively high price (yes, even for London) for a distinctly average experience. Sadly, we will not return, and it would be dishonest of us to recommend it to anyone when there are better-maintained hotels nearby at a similar price.
