Church Street Hotel by Belvilla Near the Oval: ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1 Star) My stay at Church Street Hotel by Belvilla Near the Oval was, unfortunately, one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had. After traveling from the United States to London, I was looking forward to checking into a comfortable room where I could rest and begin enjoying my vacation. Instead, I was met with multiple issues that made my arrival stressful and frustrating. The room I was originally assigned did not have air conditioning, even though I was visiting during the summer. The room became extremely hot and uncomfortable, making it difficult to sleep or relax after spending long days exploring London. After explaining my concerns, I was told that if I wanted a room with air conditioning, I would have to pay an additional fee. After an exhausting international journey, I felt I had little choice but to pay the extra cost simply to have a comfortable place to sleep. Another major issue was that the hotel does not have an elevator. My room was on the fourth floor, and there was no one available to assist with my luggage. After struggling with my heavy suitcases, I eventually had to ask another guest to help me carry them up four flights of stairs. As a solo traveler arriving from the United States, this was physically exhausting and not the welcoming experience I expected. The condition of the original room was also disappointing. There was a hole in the ceiling, giving the room a neglected appearance and making me question how well the property is maintained. Customer service was another area where the hotel fell short. It was difficult to get assistance from the front desk, and I did not feel that my concerns were handled with the urgency or professionalism they deserved. While I appreciate that I was eventually moved to a room with air conditioning, I do not believe I should have been required to pay extra to receive what many travelers reasonably expect during a summer stay. London itself is an incredible city, and I had a wonderful time exploring its landmarks, culture, and history. Unfortunately, my hotel experience did not reflect the same standard. I encourage management to be transparent about room amenities, improve the property’s maintenance, and provide better assistance for guests—especially those traveling alone with heavy luggage. Based on my personal experience, I would not stay at this hotel again and cannot recommend it
