Open in Google MapsI have been a regular visitor to Saudi and have stayed at multiple 5 star+ hotels in Jeddah over the last few years and can not imagine what a less-traveled, woman guest like myself would think. At approximately 11:00 p.m. my furst night, after a long day of travel and resting to prepare for a day of business meetings, I was woken and disturbed on three separate occasions by people attempting to access my room. The first incidents appeared to involve another guest, accompanied by a bellboy, who may have mistakenly believed this was his room. This was then followed by hotel employees attempting to open my door, again without any explanation. Thankfully, the security chain on the door was engaged. However, having multiple people attempt to enter my room late at night was extremely unsettling and made me feel unsafe. What concerned me further was that no member of staff subsequently contacted me to explain what had happened, apologize, or reassure me that the issue had been resolved. I called reception to report the incident, but the matter was received with a level of nonchalance that did not reflect the seriousness of a guest-room security breach. I would appreciate a more detailed investigation into what occurred, including whether there was an error involving the room assignment, key access, or communication between the front desk and bell team. I would also like a written explanation and reassurance that no unauthorized key or access credential remains associated with my room. Unfortunately, this incident has compounded several other aspects of the room and stay that I do not believe reflect Ritz-Carlton’s global brand standards: Old stains on the carpet and upholstery A noticeable humid and musty smell upon first entering the room A couple of small insects on the bathroom floor Limited toiletry amenities An outdated and difficult-to-operate Illy espresso machine A non-responsive air-conditioning control Regrettably, the only room detail that has felt aligned with the level of quality I associate with Ritz-Carlton has been the Diptyque Philosykos shower gel. As a business, with my partners we chose The Ritz-Carlton because of its reputation for exceptional service, attention to detail, and guest care. My experience, particularly the repeated attempts to enter my room and the lack of an appropriate response, has fallen significantly short of those expectations.
