Enderun Hotel Istanbul

I didn't want to stay at a regular hotel room and a room at Enderun was exactly what I was looking for. It literally felt like a little home away from home. We had sea view from the balcony, which I didn't even expect. The service at the hotel is top notch. The staff is incredibly courteous and attentive to detail. Breakfast was good. And I really liked staying in Fatih. Yes, the streets are note perfectly clean, yes, you can hear the sounds and see the views of regular life, but that was the point for me. It is very close to Sultanahmed, but if you chose to walk in the opposite direction, you end up where local people live, eat and shop, and get a glimpse into a real life. That was the priceless part of my short stay there and made me want to come back to Istanbul. On a negative side, there is a smell coming from the drains in the bathroom. I attribute it to building being old and it was not a deal breaker for me. I was also surprised to find out that it is considered a 4-star hotel. While I liked the hotel, I have stayed in places with less stars and more pristine conditions. I had a weird episode after checking out of the hotel on my way to airport when I received an email from Booking.com thanking me for rating the hotel. The thing is, I haven't. I contacted the hotel immediately and they denied writing a review in my name. I didn't want to escalate but I believe they gaslit me. I learned that it's quite common practice in Turkiye, which is sad because it produces the opposite effect and antagonizes their customers...
