Open in Google MapsLet me start by acknowledging that reviews are based on expectations. On the positive side, Ea is probably a nice budget-friendly (although we still paid a high price), no-frills hotel/hostel in a gritty area where you experience the real Istanbul. But compared with the other two hotels we stopped in in Istanbul, it was not good for us and I don’t get the high rating of the hotel. Reception and check out were both neutral at best - they did check us in but that was it: not rude but certainly no friendly reception or care or help. For accessibility, there are steps or steep slope to get in, spiral stairs up to the rooms and a tiny one person lift but not to the breakfast area. The room was fine but worn - exposed wires, tap very wobbly, only the end of a toilet roll, etc, etc - all ok but not comfortable. I felt I needed to lock the door the moment we were inside. The area in one direction is into local restaurants and shops, the other direction (the one we had to take) is very rough. To summarise - it’s a case of expectations: for us it was not good and I personally would not recommend.
