Over the past three years living in this building, there has been a persistent and unresolved issue with the fire alarms. For at least the last two years, the alarms have been going off daily at all hours, including during the night. This is extremely disruptive, especially when residents are being woken in the early hours. Today alone, starting from 3:00am, the alarm has sounded more than 12 times. This is not only frustrating but completely unacceptable for any residential building. The constant noise has also had a negative impact on our home environment, even causing one of our cats to become highly anxious due to the repeated distress. We also regularly receive messages about fire alarm “testing.” However, it is clear the system itself is functioning in terms of sounding alarms — the real issue is that it is constantly being triggered without resolution. Despite this, no long-term fix ever seems to be implemented. While I would like to acknowledge that the maintenance staff are always friendly, helpful, and do their jobs well and are fantastic people, the same cannot be said for building management. There appears to be a lack of accountability and urgency, as this ongoing issue has not been properly addressed or resolved in over two years. It is difficult to understand why a critical safety system is malfunctioning so frequently without a permanent solution being implemented. Frequent false alarms also create a serious safety concern, as residents may begin to ignore alarms altogether. Building management seems more concerned with ensuring residents do not feed stray cats or provide them with shelter, rather than resolving an issue that is affecting residents’ wellbeing on a daily basis. This situation needs urgent attention and a long-term fix. I would not recommend living here until this issue is properly resolved.
