Open in Google MapsI love 5-star hotels in Bangkok. They're amazing value for money, great service and incredibly breakfasts and Club Lounges. The Montraj Continental looked amazing on the website, but was incredibly disappointing. First off, I booked a "Montraj Club King" room in July 2026. The website had said that this included 2 hours of "snacks and drinks" in the Club Lounge each evening. However, when I checked in, the reception staff admitted that they'd recently changed their benefits and now *ALL* that's included was that you were allowed to enter their (small) lounge, and get 10% off their inflated drinks prices. That's it. If (like me) you're reading reviews online saying that previous customers have stayed here, had free Club benefits, etc... ignore it, this is no longer applicable. Even now, you can book a 28m2 "Continent King" for about 3,600 THB a night, or a 28m2 "Montraj Club King" for 5,500 THB per night which (according to their website) includes "the added exclusivity of a Club Lounge on the high floor". So, you pay 2000 THB extra to be able to use a small room with nice views. It also says you'll receive a "1,000 THB dining credit per stay, redeemable on food and beverages at any Montraj Hotels". (yeah, I didn't get that) and "Complimentary pressing for up to 5 pieces of clothing on stays of 3 nights or more" (again, no mention of this, even though I've booked for 3 nights). All I got was a "raffle ticket" sized piece of paper showing the times and locations of breakfast and the gym though, so that's nice. The hotel itself is on a tiny piece of land, and it's loud. you will NEED noise cancelling headphones to sleep at night. Average noise: 65db, maximum noise. 95.2db. The rooftop pool area is small, only has 3 sunbeds, with a small bar, but great views. To get hot water in the shower, I needed to run the water for a full 5 minutes first. Environmentalists, take note. A "Business Class Room with Lounge Access" room at the nearby 5-star Radisson Blu is actually cheaper (5,050 THB including breakfast), but they have modern rooms, proper Club Lounge benefits (complimentary snacks and alcohol each evening), a proper pool area with sunbeds, incredible breakfasts, and they KNOW what a 5-star hotel should operate like. (A day later) The hotel did eventually reply to my email, apologising, and coming up with two beautiful excuses. First, they claimed that because I'd booked with their "stay 3 nights, get 1 free" offer, my "Montraj Club King" room doesn't include the Club Lounge. What ?! No !! Even now, I can go onto their website, the "room details & photos" mention the Club Lounge, with no disclaimers about a particular offer or not. Next, they came back and said "we acknowledge that the communication regarding the Club Benefits and the applicable promotion was not clear enough". Not clear enough ? It wasn't mentioned at all. But - as an offer of goodwill - they offered me a 1,000 THB food credit, all-day breakfast, 20% spa discount, etc. Basically, they'd cut'n'pasted what their own website says that anyone staying in my "Montraj Club King" room (like mine) should have received by default. I even sent them a screenshot, showing this on their website that same day. They replied back saying "as a gesture of responsibility, we are pleased to offer the Montraj Club Benefits during your stay." At this point, I gave up. Overall, all I can do is warn potential customers go elsewhere. This wasn't some small misunderstanding about a website, or a one-off issue with the shower temperature. This place is barely a 4-star hotel, and their customer services are utterly hopeless. Just to add, I actually sent an early copy of this Montraj review to the hotel before publishing it, while I was staying there, so they'd have a chance to rectify these problems. Their response was an embarrassment... particularly for a 5-star hotel. Radisson Blu. 150 metres away. Cheaper. Better in every possible way. With a proper Club Lounge. You'll thank me later.
