The Global Hotel Tokyo

I normally do not write reviews but my experience warranted a truthful exposure of how they treat their guests. Staff were not friendly or courteous. On the check out day, the manager of the hotel charged me a late check out penalty of 5000JPY for not returning the locker key for the shoes, even though I was within the T&Cs of their contractual policy. The T&Cs clearly states to return the key by 2pm on the day of check out which I adhered to by returning at 1:55pm however they said I was late and they had to make a new key cut because I failed to do so. This was a lie as they pulled out an extra spare set of keys they already had in the back room which they had for every locker. I have evidence to support this claim however they were not accepting my no fault. They were argumentative and escalated this further by threatening to call the local police if I did not pay the fine, and deliberately held onto my luggage and moved it without my consent to their back room. In the end I had no choice to pay the fine as I was running late for my flight after they had been arguing and kept me there for 20 minutes. To top it all off, when I came to pay, the manager then instantly reduced this to 3000JPY which made me question their whole policy, his rash intentions of 'wanting to make a quick buck', and overall runnings of this hotel. This was a really bad end to my travels in Japan and left a sour note on my trip in Tokyo. Would not recommend.
