But if anything breaks, you have no chance to get it fixed in an acceptable time. You simply have no guarantee that you will have a working aircon when you really need it. My aircon stopped working when there was a heat wave in May and temperatures broke the May record for the UK. I’ve been paying almost £300 every year to keep my warranty active to protect me in this exact circumstance, so wasn’t worried as I expected someone to come and fixed this as a matter of urgency. I contacted Cool You and they sent someone out who concluded he can’t fix it and someone else will be in contact. A week later I still heard nothing and called them again. No one that could assist was available but I was told someone will call me back. No one did. Another week passed with nothing so I sent another email. I also provided a list of dates that I could take annual leave from work as I work from the office and can’t be home all the time. I got a reply that they’ll look at the first guy’s notes and get back to me. Another week later it was still silence so I called again, noting that we are well into the summer now. Again, someone just said that they’ll leave a message. Three weeks after the first time I reported the problem I managed to get hold of someone, saying that they’ll look at schedules and get back to me the next day. No one got back to me. I then messaged again and got the reply that they’re still looking at schedules. A month after I reported the issue I eventually got someone to come out, who told me that he didn’t have the qualifications to fix the problem. I was told there’d be a scheduling meeting and I would be told right away when I will be scheduled in. It’s now two days later and I’ve not had any communication of the date they are planning to fix the issue. It seems they just go radio silent and hope you go away. It’s now been 33 days without aircon and we had four UK heat records broken. Temperatures are in the high 30s outside and the inside of my flat reached 45 degrees. I was told they were very busy with new installations, but I chose this company because they told me if the aircon breaks they come out and fix this. If I knew this meant you have to wait months for it to be fixed I would have chosen differently. If you don’t have enough staff to honour your warranty obligations of existing clients, you probably shouldn’t expand to new ones. So, in summary, if you want to cross your fingers and hope that nothing ever goes wrong, this might be a good option. If you want certainty that things will be fixed if they break in an acceptable time frame, this company is probably not the one for you.
