Hyde Park Court Hotel

Location for our stay was brilliant as we attended BST in Hyde Park. This was one of the cheapest accommodation we could find with close proximity to Hyde Park. First appearances was dated but usually not an issue to us at all. Our room was located on 2nd floor. The room was very, very basic and very, very small. With one box on the wall as a table to put things, but this was also home for kettle,cups and a phone. There is a stand alone wardrobe that is not attached to the wall so when I opened it it fell forwards and was caught by my husband as he was standing very close to me as he had no choice as the room was so small. The wardrobe had pieces of folded card placed underneath to prevent it from toppling forward, the sort of thing you do in a pub with a beer mat to stop the table rocking! There was a spare pillow stuffed in the wardrobe. The bathroom, again very small, but it works. We are not big people so not an issue. It soon became apparent that the room was in desperate need of a clean, skirting boards caked in old grime, splashes of drink up the walls near the bin, hairs on the floor in the bathroom. The weekend we visited was during the heat wave so we knew this it would feel hot. The saviour was a fan on the wall which did provide some relief. The bed was very warm to sleep on as you could feel a plastic cover under the bottom sheet. Breakfast was offered at £5 per person which we were prepared ro try however after the uncleanliness of the room and the rest of the hotel we gave breakfast a miss. All in all not a good experience. We dont mind basic, and as the old saying goes 'you get what you pay for'. But cleanliness and safety is surely a priority?
