Deceptive booking practices. Via Airbnb, there is no booking fee, but on Booking.com, a £300 "holding deposit" is demanded after you've already paid a non-refundable fee. So they demand a second set of payment information from you - but, more than this, you have to give them the ability to deduct any amount of money from your account that they choose. When I phoned their customer service, I was told that I would need to rely on my bank's anti-fraud protection if they fraudulently withheld this deposit. I wish I had read other reviews from people who had had their deposits withheld, but I don't trust this organisation not to rip me off.
