COVE Cannon Street

I was quite disappointed with this hotel. I'm a big fan of the Locke hotel group, and since this is one of its sub-brands, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to them. The property feels worn and could really benefit from some renovations. I also found the front desk staff to be unhelpful and, at times, bordering on rude. The layout of the one-bedroom apartment was awkward and impractical. The bathroom was located on the opposite side of the bedroom, meaning you had to walk through the living room and kitchen every time you needed to use it. The washer-dryer combo was another frustration. It came with no instructions, and the front desk couldn't explain how it worked. As a result, I ended up with a load of wet clothes because there was no intuitive way to use the drying function. I then checked the communal laundry room in the basement, but the washers and dryers there were in poor condition, so I decided to air-dry everything instead. The elevator closest to my room was out of service for my entire stay. I don't mind taking the stairs, but hauling luggage up and down five flights wasn't exactly enjoyable. The hotel's biggest advantage is its location. It's about 100 feet from Mansion House Underground station and only a 10-minute walk to St. Paul's Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge. There are also plenty of restaurants, cafés, and pubs within easy walking distance. Overall, the excellent location wasn't enough to make up for the disappointing service, dated facilities, and several avoidable inconveniences.
