The staff are all very friendly, and the room was a great size. Free breakfast thay was pretty good. Hotel is also pet friendly for £20 per night. It was a bit dated but we were still pleasantly surprised. Only initial concern was lack of soundproofing (old building) and no tea/kettle set up in the room, that's a bit odd for a hotel in England. Though, I came to realise maybe why they don't stock the usual biscuits and teabags in the rooms...we were woken up at 2am by 2 MICE in the room, nibbling on a single biscuit we had in my partner's handbag. I'd recommend the hotel seek some pest control, they clearly live in the walls as they disappeared quickly behind the cabinets/walls. That's why I would be hesitant to stay here again.
