Amsterdam Hotel

I normally do not leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience. When my wife and I arrived late at night, exhausted after a long day, we discovered a mouse in our room. Unfortunately, there was nobody available at the reception to assist us, so we had no choice but to leave the hotel immediately and find alternative accommodation in the middle of the night. The replacement hotel was significantly more expensive, resulting in additional costs for us. Booking.com refunded the original reservation, and I initially left an honest review describing what happened. Shortly afterward, a person claiming to be the hotel owner contacted me directly. He repeatedly apologized, asked me to remove my review, and assured me that he would personally compensate me for the extra amount I had to pay for the second hotel. Based on those promises, and because he seemed genuinely sorry, I removed my review. He even requested my bank details for the reimbursement. Unfortunately, after receiving my information, he continuously delayed the payment with various excuses and eventually stopped responding altogether. Despite multiple promises, the compensation was never paid. The issue is no longer only the mouse or the inconvenience we experienced that night in February. What disappointed me most was being persuaded to remove an honest review based on promises that were never fulfilled. I believe future guests deserve to know the full story before making their decision.
