Dersaadet Hotel - Special Class

What makes a hotel special? Having stayed in hundreds over the years, I believe it is the personality of the hotel, the vibe, how the people and the physical building, and the amenities come together into something special. This hotel has loads of personality which makes it very special We stayed 6 nights and really loved it. The building is old and charming, the décor harking back to decades ago, a refreshing change from soulless new builds. The fittings and service align with the charm you took for granted in the books and films from decades ago The service was impeccable from being checked in at 3 a.m. and being asked to relax with some lovely apple tea and Turkish delight whilst the receptionist complete the formalities. The staff were always friendly, helpful and happy to fix trips, taxis etc. The lady running the breakfast was always ensuring we tried new things and explained the various specials and how to eat the tahini mixed with grape molasses. Fresh orange juice and coffee were readily available We had a large room with a very comfortable bed, a fridge and safe. The window opened to a splendid view of the sea. The wi-fi was excellent. The bathroom was large with lots of shelves for bathroom kit and a Turkish bath in addition to showers The roof terrace is impressive. Our mornings started there. Having a great breakfast. Sitting outside we had a choice of overlong the sea or the Blue Mosque. The seam the ships and the gulls were hypnotic. In the evening we sat and had drinks there and watched the sun set and the mosque lighting up before going out for dinner The breakfast provided a large range of salads, fruits cereals, cooked items, breads, jams, honey etc. Very tasty, interesting as well as healthy. We did not need lunch after this The hotel is a short walk from the tourist sites in the Old City as well as huge number of restaurants, shops and markets. It is also easy to walk to the tram stops.
