Fortune Plaza Hotel, Dubai Airport

I had high hopes for this hotel, but unfortunately my stay was disappointing from start to finish. The first issue was the bed. The mattress was very firm and lacked the comfortable foam topper that many hotels provide, so it didn’t offer the relaxing hotel experience I was expecting. I reported this to reception, left my room key with them, and went out for about three hours, hoping they would either improve the bed or move me to another room. When I returned, nothing had been done and I was still assigned the same room without any update. The biggest problem came later when I returned to my room and found insects everywhere, including inside my backpack and around the bathroom. I immediately informed reception and requested a room change. Instead of changing my room right away, they first sent someone with insect spray to kill the bugs. I explained that I was not comfortable sleeping in a room with an insect problem and insisted on being moved. Thankfully, they eventually gave me another room, which was much cleaner, although the bed was exactly the same. Another downside was the noise. You could clearly hear people walking in the hallway and children outside the room. The room door didn’t seem to block sound very well, making it difficult to relax. I also paid extra for breakfast because I wanted the convenience of eating at the hotel instead of going outside in the Dubai heat. Unfortunately, that was another disappointment. There was no buffet and no menu. The restaurant felt more like a dark bar than a breakfast area. The waiter immediately started listing dishes instead of handing me a menu, and communication was difficult. I was looking for something sweet, but every time I asked, he repeated the same items. In the end, I only understood “egg,” “paratha,” and “tea.” For the additional amount charged for breakfast, I expected far more choice and a much better experience. Overall, I’ve stayed in hotels that were cheaper yet provided a much more comfortable, cleaner, and more enjoyable experience. Would I recommend this hotel? No. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not.
